Liz has the rare talent of being able to play the double bass and sing, both incredibly well. And at the same time. With groove. And emotion. She possesses a deep understanding of the song form and the horizons of jazz. Back when she lived in Sydney she was 1/3 of the band Jigzag, and she has been sought after ever since for her unique, deeply song-aware sensitivity.
She is here at Johnston Street Jazz to play a set of original songs both old and new and will be accompanied by Brisbane's very own Marcus Church on acoustic guitar and Paul Henderson on 5-string banjo. Together they will bridge jazz, Americana and folk in a tender bear hug of sound. Lose yourself in songs and stories of neurodivergence, resilience and self-acceptance all carried by the warmth of her double bass and a voice that both aches and hopes.
Truthful, intimate and authentic.
